New Year Intentions: Finding Balance and Strength in 2026

Happy New Year! Today is January 1st - a day usually filled with loud resolutions and gym memberships. But if the past year taught me anything, it’s that true strength doesn’t come from "doing more." It comes from moving with intention.

Calendar with December 31 and January 1, 2026, and a red bow on a beige background.

Reflecting on the Year I Wasn’t Expecting

Last year was my "year I wasn’t expecting." Between the corporate hustle and the beautiful chaos of motherhood here in Guildford, I hit a wall of burnout. It was in that "messy middle" that I realized I didn't need a "New Me." I needed a "Mindful Me." I needed Kallpa - the Quechua word for strength that grows through breath and presence.

Why Intentions Beat Resolutions

Resolutions are often about what we want to change; intentions are about how we want to feel. This year, instead of a grueling workout plan, I’m inviting you to explore mindful movement.

  • Start small: 10 minutes on the mat.
  • Be present: Focus on the breath, not just the burn.
  • Use the right tools: Surround yourself with things that inspire you.

Rituals don’t have to be complicated. Choose one moment for your mind, one for your body, and one for your soul. That’s enough!

Creating a Sleek Sanctuary at Home

You don’t need a massive gym to find your flow. Whether you’re in a small flat in London or a family home in Surrey, you can create a space that feels sleek and calming. My goal for Kallpa Move was to design contemporary Pilates accessories that look as good as they feel. When your gear is beautiful, you’re more likely to use it.
